Challenge: To create wind power and be able to create energy

2. To be able to lift the most weights

Task.  To build a turbine with blades to harness wind power 

Components: Axel- bamboo shaft 

                      Bearing- plastic tube

              Friction Reducing disc- plastic disc

           Blade hub- Cork- connected to the axel

        

                Blade Design- Terms to include 

                          1.Leading edge

                          2.Trailing edge

  3.Blade pitch angle this affects  the way the wind enters the blade surface           

 

 Friday week 1

Today was the first day of creating wind turbines that we tried to create wind power with. We were in groups of 3 or 4 and we tried to come up with a suitable design that could harness the wind. Our group is trying to produce the most energy so that we can win the competition. On Friday we made a really bad turbine even Mr sandflu said 'it looks like my dog made it'. We didn't really know what we were doing to be honest we were just experimenting with the materials we had.
